Special thanks to Target and their Community Giving Grant for providing the funds to support Howard Drive's FIRST Academy (Furthering Instructional Reading Skills Today).  The program provides early intervention for Howard Drive at-risk first graders who are in danger of not meeting their potential as young readers.

This sponsorship is part of the ongoing support Target provides to local communities throughout the country.  Every week Target gives more than $2 million to strengthen families and communities across the nation, with a focus on education, the arts, social services and other vital community partnerships.

Howard Drive is proud to announce a dynamic resource for students and parents.  Check out Riverdeep Math and Reading courseware.  Utilizing Riverdeep software enables students to maintain and reinforce essential K-3 reading and K-5 math skills throughout the summer months. 

Just click on the Riverdeep star, input your MDCPS student ID, select the reading or math program appropriate to your grade level, and let the learning begin!

The FCAT Explorer is a free, educational Web site that provides innovative practice programs and instructional support tools to strengthen the skills students need for success on the FCAT, in the classroom, and in life. Practice programs on the FCAT Explorer Web site are produced by the Florida Department of Education.  The elementary component includes programs for third, fourth, and fifth graders.

Click on "Parent and Family Guide" to log-on to FCAT Explorer and learn more about the program.
